DESCRIPTION:The Farina Foundation and Brighton Music Center are proud to present the first ever Crush the Competition! A Drum Battle. It is the mission of the Farina Foundation to get instruments in the hands of youth in our communities- ensuring that each student has access to music education and the possibility to fulfill their musical dreams. We are thrilled to celebrate Brighton Music Center’s\, our most valued partner\, 65th anniversary by gifting two professional level drum kits\, a Crush Drum Kit and a Pearl Drum Kit\, to two very talented young drummers. \nThe Competition \nThe drum competition is open to students in grades 8-12\, ages 13-21\, in the Greater Pittsburgh Area. The top applicants will be selected by an expert group of judges to showcase their skills on May 19\, 2023. The 1st place winner will receive a Crush Drum Kit with Zildijan cymbals and a Dixon Drum throne. The 2nd place winner will receive and a Pearl Drum Kit. The 3rd place winner will receive a gift certificate to Brighton Music Center and Zildijan and Dixon Drum merchandise. \nApplications are due by May 15\, 2023 with details and instructions for the showcase. DESCRIPTION:We are excited to announce our partnership with the Saxonburg Festival of Arts to bring an exciting musical lineup to the day’s festivities! Join us for a\, free\, fun filled day of arts\, crafts\, food\, shows\, contests and of course music! There will be an instrument donation drive taking place from 11:00am-6:00pm. Bring a new\, or gently used instrument\, to support the Farina Foundation’s Play-it-Forward program serving underprivileged children \,who show musical passion and aspirations\, as well as underserved schools and organizations. \nSchedule of performances: \n11:00am-12:00pm- Allegheny Brass Band \n12:15pm-1:15pm- Cello Fury \n1:30pm-2:30pm- Jessica Lee’s Fusion St. Jazz Project featuring: Erik Lawrence\, Rick Gallagher\, Mark Strickland\, & Hugo Cruz \n2:45pm-3:45pm- The Jazz Conspiracy Big Band \n4:30pm-6:00pm- Tres Lads \nThere will also be roaming performances by the 3 Rivers Barbershop Quartet and the NA Fiddlers throughout the day.

Refurbishment of Used Instruments Instruments are donated to The Farina Foundation in various states. We accept nearly any instrument that is in good playable condition. Instruments are loaned to children who cannot afford to rent or purchase one of their own. We ensure that the donated instruments are in good condition\, refurbished\, and thoroughly cleaned. \nThe donation drive will take place from 1:00pm-9:00pm at Schenley Plaza.
